Quotes on Posters

We caught up with Founder and Artist behind Quotes on Posters, Leo Ehrlich, and chat about the inspiration behind the project, building good relationships with developers, and not designing for designers.

Give us the elevator pitch on what you do.

Every day I pick a quote that I find interesting and make a poster with it. I want to bring knowledge and inspiration to as many people as possible and contribute to a more self conscious world. I also have a website in Brazil that helps people invest in REITs ( real estate investment trust ) and reach their financial freedom. Those are my 2 design activities at the moment.

Talk us through a typical working day include for you right now.

I work from home, so I don't have a certain time to wake up or go to sleep, and I don't have weekends too, but I do have a routine that I try to follow: I wake up, meditate, exercise, check for inspiration, design a poster, work on my website with my remote team in Brazil, and spend the last part of the day ( when my energy levels are lower ) dealing with emails and other necessary things to keep the businesses going.

Whats the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Life is too short to be living somebody else's dream.

What advice would you give students graduating in 2019?

Don't design for designers. Whatever you do, have your own voice and make something that you love but also brings value to the world, not only to your small design circle. If you help the world, the world will help you in return.

Where do you think design is heading in the next five years and how will you adapt?

It's heading to a lot of touchscreens devices with different sizes that will carry lots of moving images and data, all powered by AI. Also VR will be huge. To adapt is very important to have a good working relationship with developers because I believe the future belongs to them.

Whats on the cards professionally and personally in the next 12 months?

I just want to keep having fun designing a poster a day and growing this project to hopefully have a community of people who follow, engage, learn and get inspired from it.
