Iron & Blue Design Co.

We caught up with Chase Moore, one of the founders of Iron & Blue Design Co., a collaboration of two best friends — Chase and James. Chase explains who does what in their dynamic duo, and gives us an insight into what they do and who they love to work with.

Give us the elevator pitch on what you do.

Iron & Blue was created to bring brands to life. The creative expression of a company speaks to every customer and we want to help make sure it speaks well. We create unique designs with care to create something powerful, timeless, and handcrafted just for the customer. Our services include brand identity, packaging, custom apparel and merch design, logo design, lettering, illustration, and signage…really whatever you need.

Who’s on the team, what are their roles and why do you love them?

The team is currently made up of myself and my oldest friend, James.

James is a full-time tattoo artist at Inksmith and Rogers in Jacksonville, FL. He handles the majority of the illustration work and is phenomenal at taking the ideas people have and expressing it in a lasting image. I love James because he is the most genuine and kind person I have ever known, he is incredibly generous and someone I am honored to work with. I handle the digital side of our company including client acquisition, social media, and combine the brilliant images James creates with color, layouts, and lettering to make the final branding presentations.

How did you name your practice and what does the name represent to you?

Iron and Blue Design Co is a collaboration of two best friends and when we tried to name ourselves, we looked for a mutual love which ended up being West Ham United Football Club which is nicknamed the Irons and one of their main team colors is blue.

Where did you study and what were some of your first jobs?

I studied by teaching myself, trial by fire in the music world. I was a part of bands that needed merch and I figured out how to create what we needed and then developed my skills overtime as more friends needed the same. My first job in this world was at a skate shop where I took photos and edited them for the website.

We believe in creating a more beautiful world and helping those we believe in is an incredible way to do that.

How does the local culture of where you live affect your design work and getting clients?

The local culture of Atlanta is full of passionate creatives where many people are starting their own small businesses. This gives us an opportunity to create branding for them that not only expresses their passion, but is timeless. We have had the opportunity to grow really by word of mouth with friends passing on our information to other friends.

What do you think the design community could do more to give back?

I think design companies should find organizations they are passionate about and offer their services to help them express their mission! One we really love is Okoa Refuge, which is an amazing organization in Masaka, Uganda. Offering up your skills to create products that people can use to get their mission across is something I think we could absolutely do more of. We believe in creating a more beautiful world and helping those we believe in is an incredible way to do that.
