Classmate Studio

Meet the creative minds behind Classmate Studio. We have a short but sweet chat with József and the team about how they came together to form their studio and their goal to work for more non-profits.

Any hilarious stories about you as a kid being creative?

Well, as a kid several of us had to visit a psychologist because of our unusually gloomy and vivid drawings. Think- A bloody fight between the sun, mountains, and clouds or drawing massive black holes for some time.

Did you have a plan for graduation and what actually happened?

We did several pitches together for competitions and commission work during uni and so we hoped to continue to do this after graduating. We hoped that if all went well we would form our own collective or studio and here we are.

How did you name your practice and what does the name represent to you?

After pitching many ideas for the name we went with Classmate because it was so very fitting, cheery and simple. It described our origin, how we met and the mutual trust and friendship we share. Plus it sounded catchy.

What are your top 5 local design things our readers can check out?

There is a rather nice young design community here and in our sister studio in Budapest. A lot of young designers decide to get together and do their own thing, their own studio. That is pretty inspiring. You should Also definitely check out L2, Ockto and Explicit.
