Charlotte Hopper

A big congrats to Charlotte Hopper, one of our 30 TDK Awards’ winners for 2018. A Goldsmiths and Chelsea College of Arts student from London, her work was chosen by Will from Its Nice That: “Unlike anything else I saw while judging the other portfolios. A fine art practice with a design eye – the compositions and colour palettes work really well”. We asked Charlotte to answer a few questions for next years TDK Awards’ hopefuls.

What are some of your earliest creative memories and what lead you into design?

As a child I was always playing with Lego, making buildings and towns, my playroom was an ever-expanding city of lego. My dad is a lighting designer so I’ve been surrounded by design and architecture from a young age.

What was your plan for graduating and what actually happened? OR What is your plan for graduating?

I’m planning on initiating an interdisciplinary design studio, working on projects throughout the creative industries, something I’m developing simultaneously with my degree. My practice is between the realms of art and design, I’d like for the studio to reflect this dual identity.
