Baianat

Baianat is a multidisciplinary cultural company that operates in the fields of design, business, code, and technology. We had the pleasure of chatting with the team about how setting clear targets for yourself can open opportunities, how they developed their style through a lot of practice and trial and error, and we hear their 3 must-read design books.

Give us the elevator pitch on what you do.

We are Baianat, Inc a multidisciplinary cultural company that operates in the fields of design, business, code, and technology. Adopting this style made us have a holistic view of what we do and gave us a more in-depth insight into the design. We believe that design should be driven by business needs and strategy to be authentic and provide a true solution that would boost humanity ahead and change cultures.

*What advice would you give students graduating in 2019? *

We believe that learning is a continuous act that should never stop, graduating students should know that their journey should never stop there, actually it's from there it starts to blossom! One needs to set a clear target for themselves before starting any creative journey with this clear target in mind it can open many opportunities for them to go further with whatever they dream to be and do and that's actually why we created Baianat Academy, to provide students who are as passionate about knowledge as us, with learning paths based on the topics they love and the skills they want to master.

At Baianat it’s more like home, we don’t actually come to work every day but we bring home to work and we carry this special DNA with everywhere. You can read more about our thoughts as a team through our culture books in which we illustrate our values and how we bring ourselves every day into Baianat.

What’s your take on internships? (do you take interns now?)

At the moment we don’t take interns, but soon we will be launching our internship program for those who are looking for an in-house experience with real case studies and in-depth knowledge that starts from branding across other design fields like 3D, type design and more.

*What qualities and skills do you look for in a graduate? *

In Baianat, it’s never about what you do, or what you can offer to us. It’s more of Who are you? Will you feel at home whenever you join our team or will it feel awkward to live with us? What are your beliefs? and most importantly what is your purpose in this world? What motivates and urge you to take action and make a change? What you want to achieve and what guides your personal sail?

What are your three must-read design books, blogs or podcasts and why?

The basic design books one should start with is :

  1. “ Logo Design Love by David Airey”, as it sets the ground up for newbie at the design world and gives you the information in the simplest and most effective way.

  2. The second one we recommend is “ Designing brand identity by Alina Wheeler “ This book looks at branding design from a broader perspective and it gives you a clear idea about how the process of branding actually happens in organizations.

  3. One of the books that will change the way you think about design is "Design Of Everyday Things by Don Norman" in this book you will start to think of the way things are designed and how and how this can affect your overall life experience.

How did you develop your style as an illustrator and what tips would you have for others?

We can only learn by doing, and only through practice, trail and errors one can develop and come up with his own touch, without these practices one will never really learn. So try learning from every possible way, watch everything around you and observe things from way different perspectives. if you want your work to look professional and more focused it is important for you to keep on trying new things and never fear the fall, never belittle yourself and your abilities, and remember that you always can, only if you give it a shot. You will lose nothing anyway!
