Anagrama

We've been long time followers of Anagrama—originated in Monterrey but now also based in Mexico City. Big fans of their approach to branding—believing in strategy, beauty, deadlines and design ! We were lucky enough to catch up with Daniela Garza, Creative Partner, boss lady and total legend who is an advocate for young talent and continuous learning

When did you fall in love with design and how did you get started?

I’ve always had a crush on design. I never considered another profession or career to be honest. The first time ever I realised how important design was for me was the first time I entered Theurel and Thomas. A macaroon boutique developed by Anagrama a few years ago. At that time I was just beginning my career as a professional graphic designer. I wanted to create that kind of project. Without knowing, and almost as an accident, my today’s partner Sebastian, was giving a packaging class. I couldn’t believe the author of my favourite project was now my teacher! My second home and school since that day has been Anagrama.

Where did you study and what were some of your first jobs?

Universidad de Monterrey in my hometown Monterrey, NL. It’s weird to say but my only job since 10 years ago has been Anagrama ❤️ First as a junior, then senior, then project manager and then finally joined as a partner.

Give us the elevator pitch on what you do.

A little bit of everything, but I focus on growing the business mostly, finding talented people to join our team, meeting new clients and the general following up to our projects.

Whats your take on internships? (do you take interns now?)

We are always hunting new and fresh creative minds. It’s always a great idea to create a team with new talent.

Keep your mind full of interesting data, not only about design, but about anything. Good ideas could come from anywhere.

What do you look for in a great client?

Confidence and patience. That’s enough.

Are you involved in any teaching and if so how it shapes your practice?

We collaborate often with Universities. It's one of my favourite activities as Anagrama partner. Some how it’s refreshing for me and feels great to share creativity with the newest generations.
