Tell us about where you studied and some of your highlights and favourite lecturers.
I studied Graphic Design at RISD, where some of my favorite courses were Identity Design and Infographic Design. These classes taught me how design functions as a communication tool—how to translate information into visual language and effectively convey messages. Through these lessons, now I'm able to consider whether my designs clearly communicate the intended message and include the necessary elements to support that vision.
What weird and wonderful things are you obsessed with right now that inspires your creative work?
Lately, I've been exploring different pattern designs, focusing on how geometric shapes and colors interact to create cohesive visuals. This has inspired me to experiment with geometric images and patterns in new ways. Now I’ve started paying closer attention to everyday patterns, which even inspired me to buy a new striped scarf recently.
Favourite travel destinations that inspire you?
- Seongsu, Korea – Filled with unique clothing stores and creative concept shops. Even the interior designs of cafes and the way they present their drinks are fun to observe (recommend @Tongue Planet), making it an inspiring place to explore.
- Osaka, Japan – Walking through Osaka’s busy streets exposes me to a mix of styles—from people’s fashion choices to small but well-thought-out signages and instructional designs. These little details often spark creative ideas.
- Copenhagen, Denmark – With its many design bookstores, museums, and colorful architecture, I felt inspired every time I walked around during my trip.
Tell us about your tools / what tech, programs, equipment and environment do you do your best work in?
I mostly use Illustrator and Photoshop for my design work, usually working in my room. I find that I’m most productive in a bright environment, so I keep all the lights on while working. For equipment, I use a vertical mouse, which gives comfort so I can work a while without strain on my wrist.
Which 3 creatives do you look up to and why?
Each of them has a vibrant and unique approach to design that blends energy with details, making their work exciting and inspiring.
What are your biggest hopes and dreams for 2025, both for the world and your career?
For 2025, I hope to explore and experiment with different design styles, as well as try new hobbies I haven't pursued before. Challenging myself with new styles and experiences will keep me motivated and help me expand my capabilities in exciting ways. I also hope the world and others are inspired to try something new in their lives and find excitement in the process too!
