Tell us about where you studied and some of your highlights and favourite lecturers.

Honestly, I only taught myself through YouTube tutorials back in 2018-2019. I couldn’t afford any Adobe programs, and I wasn’t motivated to learn the 'advanced' stuff. Instead, I just looked at cool designs on Pinterest and started experimenting with different styles on Photopea. I began designing Wattpad covers out of boredom, but it quickly turned into a hobby, then something I became really passionate about, and eventually, something serious. I’ve always known I was creative, even as a kid, but for some reason, I was too scared to explore that path.

I think one of the biggest highlights of last year was co-hosting a webinar with Jenna O'Connor, the founder of Janolo Creative. We talked about tips for building a creative portfolio. I was absolutely losing my mind because I’d only been freelancing for less than two years. I was incredibly grateful that Jenna gave me the opportunity to speak in front of the creative community.

What weird and wonderful things are you obsessed with right now that inspires your creative work?

That's a very good question. I think it really depends on which context you're referring to since everyone's definition of 'weird' will be different. I've always loved unconventional and weird stuff, and I've been obsessing over funky, unconventional furniture—it’s definitely the secret sauce to creating projects.

I've also been trying to be very intentional when I create a passion project—I don't want it to be purely about aesthetics.

Instead, I aim to train myself to think analytically about the design strategy and how I can use design to communicate something, whether it's a social cause, an innovative tech development, or simply being authentically yourself, if that makes sense. Ultimately, brand design is all about solving a problem and creating meaningful connections between ideas and people.

Favourite travel destinations that inspire you?

  1. Japan: I think Japan is an endless source of funky, trendy design inspiration. The mix of bold colours, quirky illustrations, and futuristic vibes is just next level. Even everyday things like packaging or signage feel so well thought out and creative—it’s like design is embedded in their culture, and it’s honestly so inspiring.
  2. China: China has this amazing mix of sleek, modern trends and funky, artsy aesthetics (sometimes memes too!). There’s always a balance between the futuristic and the traditional, which makes the design so unique and exciting. Whether it’s bold branding or stylish interiors, the creativity here just hits differently and makes you think outside the box.
  3. United States: I feel like the U.S. is all about pushing boundaries when it comes to design. It’s bold and experimental. From vibrant street art to super trendy branding, there’s always this energy of creativity and innovation that feels so fresh and exciting imo!

Tell us about your tools / what tech, programs, equipment and environment do you do your best work in?

I can’t live without my noise-cancelling headphones—they’re an absolute lifesaver since I get distracted a lot thanks to my ADHD. As for tech or programs, I honestly just stick to what I have right now and rely heavily on good ol’ mind power. I work best in a quiet, cozy environment, and it’s even better when the apartment smells like lime or lemon—it just makes everything feel so fresh and calming.

Which 3 creatives do you look up to and why?

Their case studies are phenomenal and really show how they mix creativity with strategy.

Each one is the perfect balance of boldness and purpose, proving that their work isn’t just about looking good—it’s about making an impact. What I love most is how they take an idea and turn it into something that feels fresh, exciting, and timeless at the same time. I

It's clear that they think about every detail, from the concept to how it’s going to resonate with people. The way they approach design is so intentional and thoughtful, making every project feel like it’s got layers and depth. Everything just comes together in such a way that you know it was created with real care and attention.

What are your biggest hopes and dreams for 2025, both for the world and your career?

For 2025, my biggest hopes and dreams are to get featured on platforms like The Brand Identity, The Dieline, and Creative Boom. That’s honestly the ultimate goal for this year—if it doesn’t happen this year, then definitely the next, or even the year after that. I know it’s a long game, but I’m determined to keep working, learning, and improving to get there. It’s all about persistence, and I’m ready to stay focused and put in the effort.

On a bigger scale, I hope to grow wiser in 2025. It’s not just about career milestones for me; it’s also about personal growth. I want to be someone who leads with more clarity, calm, and perspective. And I think we could all do with a little more peace in the world—so I’ll be wishing for that, too. I’d love to see us challenge some of the rigid societal norms that limit creativity and free expression.

We should all feel more open to breaking those boundaries, taking risks, and just living authentically without the pressure of living up to unrealistic standards. Sometimes, it’s as simple as saying fuck those norms and creating space for the new, the bold, and the unexpected.
