Type Directors Club (TDC) is hosting its 65th annual Communication Design Competition and accepts original work by designers worldwide. Print or Digital Media (single or series) entries which have been produced or published during 2018 are eligible for submission. Professional and Student work is judged separately. Entries selected by the jury will receive Certificates of Typographic Excellence. They will be exhibited in the 65th TDC Exhibition and appear in Typography 40. The opening of TDC65 will be held in New York City and will be on display during the summer of 2019.

Gabrovo Municipality organizes a public contest for Logo of Gabrovo – as Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art, addressing artists and graphic designers from all over the country and abroad. The Logo should represent Gabrovo as a favorable place for creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation. The creator of the winning logo will be awarded with 1,250 Euro. In addition, two incentive awards of 250 Euro each, will also be announced. The new Logo will be used in future communication campaigns and presentations, as part of the regulated rules of UNESCO or as a separate Logo to identify Gabrovo as Creative City, part of UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Following a very successful 1st year – the 2nd Indigo Award is now open for submissions and seeks to discover the best digital and graphic design work worldwide. The competition is open to individual designers, small and large design teams, studios, and students from around the world. Submissions are open for both conceptual and already implemented designs. Young designers who graduated within the last five years are particularly encouraged to apply. Graphic Designer, Digital Designer – UX and UI, Mobile Designer and Games Designer of the Year will be officially announced and awarded during Indigo Award Ceremony. Winners will receive trophies, publication in a book, extensive media promotion and more.

La Casa Encendida and Fulgencio Pimentel are pleased to present the third Puchi award and the international book project competition for 2019. The organizers are looking for one-of-a-kind book, or even a whole new kind of book – literary and graphic projects of any kind that stand out by virtue of their premise, literary and graphic quality, originality, unconventionality or mould-shattering conception. The aim of this award is to shine a spotlight on works of the highest quality and originality. The winner will receive a cash prize of 8,000 Euro and have his/her work published and distributed by Fulgencio Pimentel. A Special Jury Award, for the publication of an exceptional project, may be awarded as well.

The call for entries for the Morisawa Type Design Competition 2019 (#MOTC19) has been announced. Submission period starts 1 November 2018. The competition is open to any individual, group or nationality. Almost $50,000 will be awarded in sub-prize money in 2019. The Gold Prize (Morisawa Award) for 2019 is 1,000,000 Japanese Yen (almost $9,000) and it will be awarded for both competition categories.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Biennial of the Poster Bolivia BICeBé is calling for submissions for its International Poster Call for 2019. Students, graphic designers, plastic artists, photographers and graphic producers in general, of any age and nationality, from all over the world are invited to participate by submitting posters printed between April 2017 and March 2019, or with entirely new and unpublished designs. BICeBé will provide a diploma and a catalogue to the first, second and third awarded positions in all categories. In addition, several special prizes of $15,000 in total, will be awarded.
